Do not start at the box store

Big-box panels are fine for a lean-to you will never insure. They are a poor way to roof a house. What you are actually buying

• Stone-coated steel — a shingle look in metal. Different price and a different hail conversation.
• The coating and gauge. A pretty color on thin stock dents the first spring. Ask what is on the roll, not just the brochure.

Where we buy it — and when we will not

We source metal through suppliers we already use for trim and flashings, then install it as a system.
